UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award

We are delighted to be applying for the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award.

We see this as being a recognition that the children at our school have a voice, are listened to and have awareness of injustice in the world. Our belief that every child should be happy lies at the heart of this. Our school policies are all based on ensuring that all children in our school succeed. This can be seen with our focus on early reading; using maths mastery for all children; teaching discrete subjects to create experts in a range of areas; our exciting new homework ideas and - importantly - our focus on becoming a therapeutic school when looking at behaviour and respecting the rights of others and our environment.

As well as our class elected school councillors, we have appointed children who will be our Children's Rights Ambassadors. these children will raise the profile of children's rights and help others understand about certain injustices through regular assemblies and occasional events.
